dc.description.abstract | Work was done on adult sheep to determine the effect of feeding perse on hepatic plasma flow. Continuous infusion of creatinine was used to determine the flow rate. Feeding increased hepatic plasma flow with maximum peak reached at 2-4 hours post-feeding. An increase of 53% and 27% of total hepatic plasma flow (THPF) and portal venous flow (PVF) respectively over the pre-feeding values was observed. In conclusion feeding is a stimulus on its own for increased hepatic-portal plasma flow. | |
